My introduction to
horses started 23 years ago. The first three years I worked and trained
with a Dutch lady from Holland who introduced me to dressage. Then my
family moved to California and I proceeded to learn Eventing before moving on to
a big A Rated Hunter Jumper Trainer, Diana Fields. I earned many overall
champions and qualified twice for medal finals, winning one of the finals on my
own first horse, Abby.
Due to the military, my
family moved to Massachusetts where I went back to Rhode Island for a summer as
a working student with my original dressage instructor. The following
summer of 1992, I went back to California as a working student for Diana Fields.
In the years to follow,
I absorbed as much information on how to better communicate with horses, from
the time they are born to elderly, from some of the top instructors in the area.
I also spent three years on a breeding farm 24/7 learning the ins and outs of
the business.
My passion are the
thoroughbreds. I like to take my time with training. I feel that
gives the horse a chance to learn and retain what he/she just learned.
Here at Salem Ridge
Stables, we provide plenty of turnout for long and short term stays. I
like to work with my clients and their horses giving plenty of one on one so
when your horse goes home, you know how to use your horse's new communication
skills.
I still feel there is
always lots to learn. I work real hard to keep up with my training to
benefit my clients.
I started teaching six
years ago and I love to watch my students grow with their new riding skills.
I teach basic horsemanship skills starting with how to put on their equipment,
how to groom and proper ground manners. I also teach lower level dressage
as well as Hunter/Jumpers. My lesson program is growing with lots of
opportunity to learn new skills.
A Happy & Healthy
Horse = Happy Owners
I am proud of all my
students for all their hard work and efforts.
