In Loving Memory

Rex

RIP Sweet Rex

8/21/08

"The things we truly love stay with us always, locked in our hearts as long as life remains."

 - Josephine Baker

Losing Rex was a devastating shock to everybody who loved him, especially his young owner.  He was very smart, sweet and gentle.  He had so much personality that it is hard to imagine that much life not being with us anymore.  He inspired confidence in his young rider that wasn't there before.  Rex was an awesome teacher, a gentle horse, and a child's best friend.  He was family.

Rex had a silly side that made us laugh all the time.  His facial expressions were at times sweet and at times hilarious.  When he didn't like the treat offered, he would wiggle his nose against it and fling it off of your hand.  He made us laugh a lot.

When we hear thunder, we will know we are hearing Rex's hoofbeats in heaven and that our love for him and his love for us will stay in our hearts.  He will never be forgotten and will always be loved.

His loss is felt deeply by many and he is missed.

*~*~A letter to Rex from his young owner *~*~

Dear Rex,

I really, really, really miss you.  I wish you were here.  You taught me a lot.  With you, I learned how to tack up more, post, canter, clean feet, lead, and tie a lead rope.

I liked it when you made your funny faces.  I'll remember when you pawed for your food, got snot all over my mom and I, and when I would give you carrot treats you would wiggle your nose and the treat would fall out of my hand.

You and me were a team.  It makes everything harder.  I can't stop thinking about you and I can't think straight.  I know you'll always be with me and in my heart.  I'll never forget you.
